Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the Mothers’ Endowment Initiative, which honours maternal figures in the region.

A one billion Dirham endowment fund has been created to support education globally. People can donate in honour of their mothers, who are their children’s first teachers. The campaign is an ongoing charity for all mothers in the UAE and aligns with Ramadan’s charitable spirit.

The donations will go towards uplifting educational and vocational systems and improving the qualifications of individuals in underprivileged communities. The fund will aid in providing sustainable methods to improve the standard of living and equip individuals with resources to access jobs, leading to the betterment of their communities.

Sheikh Mohammed has announced on his social media platform that the holy month of Ramadan is approaching. In keeping with tradition, the people of the UAE launch humanitarian campaigns to the world every year. This year, they will launch the Mothers’ Endowment, an education endowment fund worth AED 1 billion that will serve as a perpetual charity in honour of all mothers in the UAE.

Praising his mother, Sheikh Mohammed noted, “A mother is a synonym for heaven, and her satisfaction is the path to heaven. We invite young and older men and women to participate in this gift. Let us make our mothers happy, please our Creator, and practice fasting this Ramadan with blessings, love, and kindness. May God protect the UAE and UAE mothers.”

Dubai’s Vice President and Ruler stated: “Knowledge is a source of hope and a gate to a better life. It helps build capable individuals and advance countries. He also emphasised that the UAE’s role is to ensure education, hope, and a better life for people globally. Therefore, the country must contribute to creating a better future for everyone worldwide.”

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum also launched a scholarship program for outstanding Emirati graduates from public and private schools in Dubai. The Hamdan bin Mohammed Academic Scholarship Programme has allocated AED1.1 billion to support 100 deserving Emirati school graduates every year. The programme will accept applications for the 2024-2025 academic year starting in April 2024. Interested students can apply via the ‘Emarati’ icon on the DubaiNow platform. The KHDA’s terms and conditions will determine the selection criteria. Considering the different curricula’s timelines, the application window will align with the announcement of high school results.
